Organisation Resource pack

Welcome to Brighton and Hove Volunteer’s (BHV) volunteer resource pack.  This  aims to help organisations to engage, recruit and retain young volunteers. If you would like a hard copy of this pack, please get in touch and let us know.

The UK has seen a particular focus on youth volunteering in recent years, especially through the Millennium Volunteers scheme launched in 1999, the Russell Commission’s framework for youth action and engagement published in 2005 and the new youth volunteering charity V launched in 2006.  There has never been more interest from under 25’s wanting to get involved in volunteer work.

This information guide is to be used a reference guide to enable organisations to consider what areas of good practice they should consider when working with young volunteers. This guide is by no means exhaustive and each organisation should consider good practice and working methods for their own individual group.

We have provided links to guide you on where to find further guidance on specific topics. It is intended to provide a summary for areas of consideration and further advice can be provided upon request. Information within this guide was correct at the time of publication in October 2009.
