Volunteers

BHV want you

You’re unique. You can make a difference – it’s just a matter of working out how.

You might – organise your own music events … take photographs… be a football coach… watch others sweat it out as a race steward… raise money… become a mentor… design websites… work on a local community allotment… support a local community group… get involved in youth support work… travel to work overseas and work with people from all walks of life…

You could change your community, change attitudes, change the world or even change a life – with BHV there are a variety of opportunities available to you. Simply get in touch to find out more.

If you volunteer with BHV you will either receive a v thankyou certificate or you can choose to work towards a v50 award (which involves completing 5

0 hours of volunteering). Both of these will recognise that you have given your time to make a difference in your community. You’ll get a log book and folder to help you keep track of your volunteering activities, and record the skills you’ve gained.

In the coming months we will also be introducing a third award that will follow on from the v50 award. Keep checking this site for details.

There are two Volunteer Advisers at BHV. They will provide a personalised service to match you with inspiring opportunities that fit into your life, further your ambitions and indulge your passions.

Volunteer with BHV with the Youth Action Team (YAT). This is where we need you to get involved in shaping local volunteering in Brighton and Hove and in developing the work of BHV.

The YAT is a group made up of young people who volunteer with BHV. They will consult with their peers to promote youth volunteering, organise and attend local events and help with the development of BHV to ensure that young people continue to help direct our work. Volunteering within the YAT could include such activities as:

  • marketing

  • design

  • photography

  • web site design

  • community liaison

  • finance

  • fundraising

  • Attending community events

  • Organising events

The role that you would like to have within the group is down to you.

A previous example of how our YAT has volunteered on a specific project is in the organisation of our annual celebration event (a party for young volunteers in Brighton and Hove).
