Health and safety checks will be carried out on placements to ensure your safety.

To try to resolve fairly any problems, grievances and difficulties you may have while you’re volunteering.

Support to find training related to your volunteering.

In return we ask that you:

Remember that you are a representative of BHV.

Reach a shared understanding with your placement summarising your role and commitment

Keep in touch with your placement, letting them know if you cannot make a session.

Are open and honest in your dealings with us and your placement.

Treat fellow volunteers, staff and any service users with courtesy and respect

Let us know if you wish to change the nature of your volunteering or when you stop to volunteer

Keep us up-dated with your hours total and return you log book to us when you have finished volunteering to enable us to request your certificate.

Let us know if we can improve the service and support that you receive

Maintain the confidential information of the placement and of its clients;

Follow the organisation’s procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities, in relation to its staff, volunteers and clients.

Work reliably to the best of your ability, and to give as much warning as possible whenever you cannot work when expected
