Youth Action Team logo

The Youth Action Team is a group of young people aged 16-25 who champion local volunteering. Drawn from all walks of life and acting as ambassadors, they encourage their peers to volunteer, and advise the vinvolved teams and other organisations on youth led community action. They also have a role in planning activities, developing marketing ideas and event management. For example, the Youth Action Team might organise our annual celebration event for volunteers, this is usually a night of music, food and presentations at a local venue. The members of the team would meet every six weeks for two hours and develop a plan for activities, events and promotion of that event. Ultimately, the events and things that you do to promote youth volunteering are up to you to decide as group.

Free training on a weekend residential which will include outdoor activities and team building sessions.

Free, specific training that members feel would benefit them in their role, for example; IT courses, first aid and fundraising.

All travel expenses will be paid and refreshments provided at meetings and any events that members attend.

Gain new skills, learn about and get involved in their local community, meet new people, support the development of a new youth project in Brighton, have the opportunity to gain accreditation and access free training.

Are you aged between 16 and 25?

Youth Action Team at V HQ

Written by v20 year 1

A motley crew of young people from all over England were quickly recruited to make sure young people’s viewed stayed right at the heart of the agenda.  v20 season one was recruited well before v was up and running, meeting every six weeks to really get their teeth into the juicy job of setting up a charity. During their time at v, they:

  • Helped to launch and brand v

  • Helped to develop the volunteering portal – vinspired.com

  • Developed vcashpoint – a youth fund that gives young people the chance to apply for up to £2500 to run a community project

  • Organised a parliamentary reception

  • Took part in a number of different consultations and projects on v’s work (from vision and objectives for v to grants decision making panels, selecting marketing materials to staff recruitment)

  • Represented v at conferences, events, review panels (including the Cabinet Office Review of the Third Sector, and the Commission for the Future of Volunteering)

  • Ran ‘Outside the Box’ sessions in youth clubs and projects

  • Undergone a number of different training courses; both as a group and individuals

  • Carried out the recruitment of new v20

v20 year 2

Our current v20 was selected after a national recruitment campaign in January and interviews in March. The recruitment process was managed by our outgoing v20 group, to ensure that young people could hand on the baton to their peers.

So far this year, v20 has:

  • Assessed the first round of vcashpoint applicants and planned the next rounds

  • Helped to shortlist NYVP applicants

  • Submitted evidence to the Commission for the Future of Volunteering)

  • Hosted fringe meetings at the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat party conferences

  • Advised on marketing campaigns and appeared in the media

  • Interviewed David Cameron

  • Worked on the mysterious, yet-to-be-revealed Project X…
